Keep Florence Beautiful to “Adopt Residency” of William F. Jeffers Center Building at Timrod Park

Keep Florence Beautiful (KFB) is getting a new corporate headquarters thanks to the City of Florence. KFB will operate its corporate offices out of the main level of the William F. Jeffers Center Building, which it will continue to share with The Florence Parks & Recreation Department, The Timrod Park Neighborhood Association and The Florence Police Department. “KFB will begin moving its belongings into the building as soon as the inside of the building gets a little KFB TLC.” states, Michelle Bailey, Chair of Keep Florence Beautiful. “We have been looking for a place to call home for some time, and more than my kitchen table and garage as a storage area. We have exciting plans for Timrod Park around the Building, we will be freshening up the landscaping around the building, the building itself, incorporating a learning center for educational purposes, etc. Having a home for KFB has been a dream of mine for a long time, and things are finally starting to come true.” “Without the Support of Drew Griffin, City Manager, Chuck Pope and Darlene Buchanan of The City of Florence, this would not be possible. So on behalf of KFB, we sincerely thank you for believing in our cause and our vision for Florence.”

About Keep Florence Beautiful
Keep Florence Beautiful is a 501C3 organization; our mission is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community.

Our focus is to change behavior and improve the Florence community reducing the impact of solid waste and creating community pride by supporting Litter Prevention, Waste Reduction, Recycling, Beautification, and Community Greening. We identify the causes of litter and reduce it by organizing cleanups and promoting proper handling of discarded waste while improving the visual aspects of Florence, South Carolina. Keep Florence Beautiful also participates in, and organizes programs that beautify and naturally clean our environment to help achieve our goals. These programs include community education for responsible consumerism; source reduction, reuse and recycling; community gardens; restoration of vacant lots; highway and shoreline beautification; urban forests, native and wildflower plantings; and graffiti prevention and abatement.

Our guiding principles are education, individual responsibility, public-private partnerships and volunteer action. Through education we encourage positive behaviors toward community improvement and teach individual responsibility for improving our community, environment and quality of life. Our goal is to encourage the community to become more engaged as citizens and stewards of the environment. Public-private partnerships and volunteer action create broad-based community alliances and allow us to engage the community as a whole, extending the reach of our education and multiplying the impact of our actions while strengthening community pride. Partnerships and volunteers are essential to the organization; they allow us to achieve sustainable community improvement.
