Adopt-A-Street/Highway Program

Adopt-A-Trail/Park is a volunteer program that gives the public an opportunity to be actively involved in beautifying and maintaining the city’s public right of ways. Individuals, families, businesses, youth groups, faith communities, or civic organizations can partner with Keep Florence Beautiful (KFB) to perform litter removal and beautification along one mile sections of a street or highway adopted by the group.

Objectives for the Adopt-A-Street/Highway Program Are:

  • Community
  • Environmental Impact
  • Economic Development

Adopt-A-Street/Highway Volunteers are asked to:

  • Litter and Debris Removal: Pick up litter and debris along the public right of way. When at all possible, recyclable materials should be kept separate from the trash materials.
  • Maintenance and Beautification: Adopters are expected to maintain the appearance of their adopted street.
  • Reporting Issues: Adopters are required to report any maintenance or safety issues they notice on their adopted street.
  • Safety and Security: Adopters may be encouraged to keep an eye out for any safety concerns or suspicious activities on their adopted streets.
  • Complete a cleanup at least once per quarter (4 times a year) for two consecutive years.
  • Complete an Adopt-A-Street/Highway Volunteer Work Form at the completion of each cleanup and submit it to Keep Florence Beautiful.

Keep Florence Beautiful will:

  • Recognize the volunteer group on an Adopt-A-Street/Highway sign placed along the adopted segment. After two cleanups, an AASH sign (example provided below) will be paid for by KFB acknowledging your service. If there is a request for additional signs, those will be the responsibility of the volunteer group to purchase. Placement locations will be agreed upon by KFB staff.
  • Provide trash bags, gloves and vests.
  • Pick-up filled trash bags at a pre-specified location. Notice must be given to KFB 48 hours in advance of the clean-up day.

If you or your group are interested in the AASH program, please complete the form here.
