Our mission

Keep Florence Beautiful’s mission is to engage, educate, and empower the residents of Florence County to take pride in their community through beautification, litter prevention, environmental stewardship, and community action. We bring together volunteers, businesses, schools, churches, and neighborhood organizations to create a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Florence — one project, one neighborhood, and one person at a time.

Our Vision

We envision a Florence County where every street is clean, every public space is welcoming, and every resident feels a deep sense of pride in the community they call home. A place where neighbors look out for shared spaces, businesses invest in the beauty of their surroundings, and young people grow up knowing that the environment they inherit is worth protecting. That is the Florence we are building — together.

Our Values

Everything we do is guided by a commitment to community first, environmental care, inclusive action, and accountability. We believe that every resident — regardless of age, background, or ability — has a role to play in keeping Florence beautiful. We measure our impact, share our results openly, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of stewardship. We don’t just clean up Florence — we build a culture of pride that lasts long after the last trash bag is tied.

The Begining

Keep Florence Beautiful would not be the organization it is today without the dedication of those who came before us. From our grassroots beginnings — when a small group of passionate residents took it upon themselves to care for the City of Florence — to the award-winning, professionally run organization we’ve become, every step of this journey was made possible by the board members, volunteers, and community leaders who gave their time, energy, and belief to this mission.

Keep Florence Beautiful was founded as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s leading community improvement organization. For over 26 years, we’ve been organizing cleanups, planting trees, engaging schools, and partnering with local businesses to transform public spaces across Florence County. What started as a small group of concerned citizens has grown into a movement. Today, hundreds of volunteers, dozens of corporate partners, and thousands of community members work together to keep Florence clean and beautiful.

What once served only the city now reaches across the entire County of Florence, touching more neighborhoods, more schools, and more lives than our founders ever imagined. Their vision laid the foundation. Their hard work opened doors. And their unwavering commitment proved that a few people who refuse to give up on their community can change it for the better. We carry their legacy forward with every cleanup, every tree planted, and every neighborhood transformed.

Our Board of Directors

As we continue to grow and innovate, our Board of Directors will remain a cornerstone of our success. Their expertise and passion for our mission are critical to the impactful work we do each day. We are grateful for their commitment to making a positive difference and are excited to see the future of KFB unfold under their guidance. We invite you to learn more about our Board and stay updated on how they are helping shape the future of KFB. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
